Yuko Shimizu is an award-winning Japanese illustrator based in New York City. Her first monography which included works from the past ten years of her career was published from Gestalten in 2011. Yuko's first children's book 'Barded Wire Baseball' is due out this year.
This collection of images comes from Yuko's hydrophobia. She never learnt how to properly swim, and doesn't even go to the beach. The images, in a way, is her fantasy - as she is able to swim as much as she likes in her drawings.
